Thompson Cancer Survival Center Saved My Life
"You have cancer" may be the three most feared words in the world.
When my gastroenterologist said those words to me in MArch 2012, he immediately referred me to Thompson Cancer Survival Center. After 11 months of treatment for stage-3B rectal cancer, includng oral chemo and radiation, surgery and six months of adjuvant infused chemotherapy, there was no evidence of disease in my body.
I was one of the lucky ones. I had health insurance. I could afford the out-of-pocket costs for treatment. I worked for a cancer NPO, so I had access to information and support.
Not everyone is as lucky as I was. That's why the Race Against Cancer is so important to me. Funda raised by the race support TCSC's Community Outreach programs, which help cancer patients and their families right here in East Tennessee get some of the help they need.
