Official Rules: 18 Hole | Four-Person Scramble

USGA RULES will govern all play except where modified by the following local tournament rules. All local rules apply as indicated on the scorecard.

Section 1. Rules of Play

Scramble Format - All four members of the team shall hit one tee shot on every hole. The team then selects one tee shot and continues play from that point. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out.

Place ball within one club length (no closer to the hole) of the marked spot. Putts need to be made within 2 inches of the marked spot (no closer to the hole). The first ball to go in the hole is counted for the team score.

If the ball you choose to play is in a fairway, penalty area, bunker, or the rough, then all balls must be played from the same condition within one club length of the chosen ball.

  1. 64 and under will play the Blue Markers 6186 yards
  2. 65 and older will play the Green Tee Markers 5,653 yards
  3. Ladies will play from the Yellow Tee Markers at 5,331 yards
  4. There is an automatic 2-putt rule: Amateur teams will have a maximum of 2 putts on each hole. Once the ball in play is being played from the putting surface each player on the team has a chance to make the first putt. If no player on the team makes the putt from the original position the hole is over and the team will score as if the second putt was holed.
  5. All players should conduct themselves in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesy and sportsmanship at all times, irrespective of how competitive they may be.
  6. In the event of rulings while on the course, play a second ball as well as the original ball, recording a score for both balls. Then after the round is completed, consult with Chris Dibble, Director of Golf, at Holston Hills Country Club for a final ruling.
  7. INCLEMENT WEATHER: Play will continue until you are notified otherwise by the signal horn.

Section 2. Scoring

Competition is “at scratch” - Once each team has been formed the competition is conducted without handicap strokes. This is called competing “at scratch.”

Breaking Ties - In the event of a tie, Chris Dibble, Director of Golf, at Holston Hills Country Club shall break the ties by matching cards among the tied teams. The matching of cards shall begin with the Men’s number 1 handicap hole (not the first hole) and continue with the Men’s number 2 handicap hole, etc. until the tie is broken.
